When the association receives information about an abandoned or sick dog/cat, a network of volunteers is set up to organise the animal's further care by involving a volunteer who is available at the time.

If the dog/cat is found to be healthy, the network of temporary shelters will be contacted and, depending on their current capacity, further transport to a free shelter will be organised. The dog/cat will be taken to an isolation area where it will spend some time while being tested for a range of infectious and non-infectious diseases. If the animal is healthy, it is reintroduced to the other animals. If, on the other hand, it is found to have a disease, a vet is called in to provide the appropriate treatment. If the abandoned animal is visibly injured or sick, the network of veterinarians in Smederevo is contacted by telephone to organise a veterinary examination as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the injury or illness, the dog/cat will either remain in the vet's hospital or be taken to a free accommodation or shelter for appropriate treatment.
Every animal in our care, after the necessary veterinary care and procedures, becomes a candidate for adoption - healthy, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and after the signing of a responsible ownership contract, becomes someone's pet and a family member.
