Šape Smedereva
Rina
Date of birth: 10.10.2024
Gender: female
Breed: mix of German Shorthaired Pointer and likely Montenegrin Mountain Hound
Weight: 55cm/25kg
Health and vaccination status: protected from infectious diseases
Character: Rina was born in the shelter together with her siblings (some of whom are also up for adoption with us). Their mother is a German Shorthaired Pointer (she has already been adopted), who lovingly cared for her puppies. The siblings grew up together and are therefore well socialized.
She gets along with cats and chickens and is an open and friendly dog. Due to her breed, she is very athletic and therefore needs plenty of physical and mental activity. Regular sporting activities such as agility, flyball, or tracking would be ideal to keep her fit and mentally stimulated. An active family with children would also be a good match, as she is very people-oriented. Rina is very confident, somewhat dominant, and handles interactions with other dogs in a calm and self-assured manner. We definitely recommend attending a good dog training school.
Rina is looking forward to a loving forever home where she can stay for the rest of her life.

Story: Rina and her siblings were born as one of ten puppies to a wonderful mother in a small Serbian village. Since their mama quickly won the hearts of the local people, the puppies were born in a large dog house, safe and protected. The neighbors came together to help, and both the mother and her puppies were well cared for.
Unfortunately, there were also some cruel people who threatened to report them to the state-run dog shelter – a place known as a kind of “dog prison.” That’s when we received urgent calls for help, and we didn’t hesitate – we immediately brought the little family to safety.
But as we all know, life often brings new challenges and after the first vaccination, the dangerous parvovirus broke out in the litter. Rina and her brother Koda fought for their lives, but sadly, Koda didn’t make it. His loss broke our hearts — but we had to keep fighting, for the others. Rina survived and later grew up in a happy, playful dog.
